About Chemtura
Chemtura: Global overview
Chemtura Corporation produces and markets polymer products and specialty chemicals globally.
In 1892 the US Rubber Company was formed and entered into the crop protection market in 1950 with the introduction of a single fungicide product. In 2005 Crompton Corporation merged with Great Lakes Chemical Corporation to form Chemtura Corporation, providing the new company with an expanded global presence and strong market positions in North America, Europe and the Middle East, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region.
Today the company, known as Chemtura Corporation, still produces polymer products but has a new operating unit known as Chemtura Crop Protection which produces and markets crop protection chemicals throughout the world.
The Crop Protection unit serves the agricultural market in 120 countries worldwide. Many Crop Protection formulations are specifically developed for crops and geographical regions around the world.
Chemtura Crop Protection products include insecticides, acaricides, fungicides, herbicides, plant growth regulators and seed treatments. The Crop Protection unit is focused on improving crop quality and increasing yields for farmers of high-value crops such as nuts, citrus, tobacco, cotton, rice, tree and vine fruits, turf and ornamental plants. Many of these products such as Vitaflo and Omite have become industry standards.
